Annotation: Morning Glory Academy is a prestigious prep school with secrets to hide. For the incoming class of freshmen, their studies will include learning how to survive a homicidal faculty and uncover a secret ancient conspiracy.
Personal Thoughts: What starts off like the Breakfast Club at a prestigious prep school, turns into something out of a Wes Craven nightmare. There’s the moody goth girl, the sunny blonde girl, the snooty rich kid, the slutty flirt, the Japanese kid, and the smalltown all American boy. When clues to a dangerous conspiracy unravel, the students must fight for survival and for escape from a school run more like a prison. Why do they all have the same birthday? Why are other students going missing? Why is the faculty giving them tests that can prove fatal if failed? Nick Spencer has written an engaging mystery with attractive young characters in danger for their lives. Joe Eisma’s art is cool and cinematic and you keep turning the pages to find out what happens next. Morning Glories, volume one, doesn’t give you all the answers to the tale, rather it sets you up for more books in the series.
